Perhaps one of the most crucial decisions a couple would ever have to make before embarking on the arduous journey of putting together the wedding of their dreams, is choosing for THE date. For some, it is a no-brainer anniversary date. Others would consider when most family members would be available and willing to travel; hence, December being the most sought after wedding month in the Philippines. Meanwhile, there are those who would consult the stars and astrology for the best dates to get wed.
Auspicious weddings dates are announced in various websites for the coming year. The most famous are the Chinese calendar apart from the several famous authorities in astrology. For top Manila wedding venue, Palazzo Verde, those dates that are marked in the famous calendars are sure to be the first ones to go in the inventory. Event coordinators and bride alike start making reservations as early as November for the coming year. While soft booking is allowed, those who are strongly bent on their dates take no further risk and book for as early as 18 months in advance. Most coordinators will argue it is the best lead time if you want a stress free and smooth planning.
This year 2019, some of the auspicious dates highlighted in astrology were the full moon in June, the harvest moon in September and the Winter Solstice in December. Palazzo Verde’s calendar is heavily marked on those dates. This means that many of our couples heed the advice of astrology.
Trendy dates have also become a favorite among couples. According to Palazzo Verde’s Marketing Officer, Ian de Borja, “trendy dates have long been a norm in the wedding industry. This year for instance, January 9, 2019 or 1-9-19 was a fully booked date in Palazzo Verde”. He added that in 2018, there was a sudden rise in bookings in August, which is traditionally considered a lean month not only for weddings but for business in general. This was because couples were after the trendy date 8-8-18 and 8-18-18. He said, “ We are expecting a few more of the trendy date combinations for 2020. In fact, there was a waiting list for 2-20-20 or February 20, 2010, long before we opened the calendar for booking 2 years ago’. A bride who is set to be married in February 20, 2020 happily shared to us why they chose the date- she said they simply wanted a date that their guests will easily remember. It doesn’t matter that it falls on the middle of the week as it also seems auspicious with the number “2” signifying their union and the fact that the date looks pretty in their calligraphy style invitation. We couldn’t agree more. In the end, whatever date you feel is lucky, is the right one for you. Choosing the date must be a memorable and fun process for any couple.
